Here’s a simple three-ingredient smoky bacon dip made with full-fat Philadelphia cream cheese, Hellman’s mayonnaise with a touch of garlic, and crumbled smoked bacon strips. Nothing else is needed because… mmmm… bacon!
You could go through all the bother of cooking your crispy bacon strips and using those, but I found some fantastic ready-made ones in the deli meats aisle at my local supermarket during a previous shopping trip, and these worked a treat. The hint of garlic from the mayonnaise works, too, if you’re a garlic fan like me.
Ingredients
- 80 grams of full-fat Philadelphia cream cheese
- 80 grams Hellman’s mayonnaise with a hint of garlic
- 15 grams of cooked smoked bacon strips, crumbled

Spinach and Artichoke dip is always a winner in our house. Chopped artichoke hearts, spinach, onions, garlic all mixed together with parmesan and sour cream, salt and pepper. Can be served cold or warmed under the grill with some mozzarella sprinkled over the top to make it lovely and gooey! Sometimes we add a little paprika or cayenne to give a little boost!
Great served with home made nachos or pitta breads

I make a Kidney Bean dip, it can also be made with black eyed peas and well probably with any bean. Fry spring onions and garlic and red fresh chillis until soft, add fresh tomatoes and kidney beans and warm through. Then puree all the ingredients. It is lovely with chips. I reckon the Market Deli Cheddar, Chorizo, Sweet Chilli or the Red Pepper would go well.

I have two favourite dip recipes, the first is a chunky three colour tomato salsa with sweet white onions (diced), coriander, crushed garlic and… my ingredient that makes it, half a squeezed lime mixed with a shot of vodka! Yum, yum! My second is made with palm oil free Almond and coconut butter made by Pip and Nut and makes a nut dip for satay. Mix 2 desert spoonfuls of the butter with a minced white onion, a minced garlic clove, a dash of soy sauce and white wine vinegar, three teaspoons of seasame oil, 2 teaspoons of honey and some coconut milk until it’s the consistency you deire then blend with a hand blender until smooth!

Fruit Salsa Dip – about 8-10 cherry tomatoes, 1 spring onion, half a mango, half a cucumber, 1 cup sweetcorn, 2 tsps olive oil, squeeze lemon juice, mixed herbs you have (eg- coriander, parsley, mint, oregano)
Chop all the fruit and vegetables into small pieces, and mix them all together. Mix in any herbs, the olive oil and lemon juice, and, if you feel it needs it, a pinch of sugar.
My son loves making this with me, and it’s great not only as a dip, but with wraps, fajitas, crusty bread, or even in sandwiches.

My favourite dip recipe is one that I loved when I lived in Egypt. It is a traditional recipe called Baba ganoush.
The ingredients are 2 aubergines – peeled and chopped, olive oil, half a chopped red onions, crushed 2 cloves garlic and fresh basil.
Fry the aubergines and onions in hot olive oil for 15 minutes, add arlic and fry for 2 minutes. Put in a blender with a handful of fresh basil and a splash of olive oil and blend to a rough paste. I like mine spicy and also add some chopped red chilli in the blender.
